Lake County Community Development Corporation was established as one of the five regional centers for the Montana Agricultural Innovation Center in 2004. As a regional center LCCDC provides staff and resources to provide accessibility of technical assistance to developing Montana agricultural producer value added enterprises in western Montana.
What is Value Added? Value Added agriculture is an opportunity to enhance a commodity to capture or create additional value in a product. In doing so a producer earns a greater portion of that product at the final point of sale.
LCCDC offers a unique opportunity for Montana producers to capture value in the development of value added food products through the Mission Mountain Food Enterprise Center. As a USDA and FDA certified facility, MMFEC can offer resources in food product development, food processing infrastructure, co-packing, food science and assist in food regulations. The center hosts a full processing kitchen and a larger co-packing facility with a storage warehouse.
Assistance available to Montana agricultural producers who are pursuing the development of a value added product include:
- Feasibility Studies
- Marketing assistance
- Nutritional Analysis
